Together, we’ll keep your pets healthy through a practical approach to wellness care and preventive medicine.
Your Concerns Will Be Heard
Please talk to us about your time constraints, lifestyle, budget concerns, etc., so, we can truly understand your needs.
You Can Expect a Tailored Treatment Plan for Each Individual Family Pet
As you chat with us about your pet’s lifestyle; if your dogs go to dog parks, kennels, doggie day care, camping or hiking with you, and if your cats are indoor or outdoor, we can put together a customized plan including which vaccinations are appropriate for each individual pet. You won’t find a “one-size-fits-all” corporate policy here at Porte Veterinary.
You Can Count On Us
You can count on us to respect the unique relationship you have with each one of your pets. And you can count on us to provide the highest level of care and compassion for your beloved furry family members.
If you believe your pet may be sick or injured, please give us a call.
From bee stings to foxtails sniffed-up nostrils to random acts of vomiting, we’ve pretty much seen it all. And it seems to happen at the most inopportune times. Please know we’ll do everything possible to accommodate your needs and time constraints. Be sure to ask about drop-off appointments which will get you on your way while we care for your pet. Then, we’ll call you with the findings, treatment plan, and schedule a pick-up time.
During our regular business hours, please call and let us know as much as possible about the emergency because we need to ensure a doctor is onsite and our hospital is equipped to handle your specific situation. In some cases and when in the best interest of your pet (rattlesnake bites, for example) we must refer you to one of the 24-hour emergency care facilities listed below.
In the event your pet has ingested something that may be poisonous, please call 855-764-7661 or 888-426-4435 before (or while) you are heading to the hospital. The pet poison hotline specialists will provide you with vital information the veterinarians will need to provide the most appropriate, quickest, and possibly life-saving help to ensure the best possible outcome for your pet.
After hours: Please take your pet to one of the following 24-hour care facilities listed below, or consult a directory to find your nearest 24-hour pet emergency hospital.

Your pet’s skilled healthcare team uses state-of-the-art laboratory equipment to test for parvo, leukemia, anemia and other life-threatening issues. This saves lives!
The in-house equipment can also run routine urine and blood chemistry profiles. When necessary, and in the best interest of your pet, we’ll send out urine, blood, fecal, or tissue samples to our reputable outside lab.
In-house radiology can help to quickly spot an intestinal blockage, broken bones, or a foreign body. In addition, your pet benefits from living here in the Silicon Valley area because we can call upon local board certified cardiologists and radiologists. These specialists will visit our hospital in order to perform more advanced procedures such as echocardiograms (heart ultrasounds), abdominal (stomach) ultrasounds, and thoracic (lungs) ultrasounds.
There are certain instances when your pet’s samples (blood, urine, feces, tissue) are sent out to a larger laboratory because they require more specialized attention to provide the best diagnostic information.
You can order your pet’s medication online through our pharmacy partner Vets First Choice. This is a convenient and cost saving alternative for you to obtain your pet’s monthly heartworm preventatives, flea & tick preventatives, or other medication. It also saves you time as you can order anytime day or night and choose home delivery. We will continue to carry the most important medication your pet may need right away in our well-stocked hospital pharmacy.
Most of your pet’s prescription medication can be filled right here at our hospital’s pharmacy. We carry the most important medication your pet may need right away.
Our veterinarians are dedicated to preventative and medical management of your pet’s oral health.
Our hospital staff and veterinarians are here to help discuss your pet’s oral health, teach you how to brush their teeth, and address any painful dental problems your pet may have.
We can also advise you on the best toys and oral health products that actually work to benefit your pet’s oral health as not all products actually help your pet have a healthy mouth. We are here to help you navigate these products.
It all starts with a full mouth examination during your pet’s check-up.
Our hospital is equipped to provide full array of dental services including dental cleaning, full mouth digital dental radiographs, surgical extractions (removal of teeth), restorative dentistry (bonded sealant) and more.

Here in Silicon Valley, we have access to board certified surgeons in a variety of specialties. Many of these specialists travel here to Porte Veterinary Hospital to perform the surgical procedures. This can add-up to significant cost savings for you when compared to taking your pet to a specialty hospital for the same surgery.
Most commonly, board-certified surgeons are needed for repairing orthopedic injuries.
When necessary, we will guide you through the process and recommend a board certified surgeon.
